Quick Installation Tips: Setting Up 23″ and 30″ Drum Baffles

Setting up your Drum Baffles correctly is quick and simple, but a few pointers will help you get the best performance. Each baffle comes with a 7/16″ grommet so it mounts securely on a standard cymbal stand. For the 23″ baffle, position them in front of the hi‑hat or splash cymbal at about the same height as the cymbal edge. Angle the panel slightly toward the cymbal to catch the high‑frequency energy while leaving the lower part of the kit unobstructed. Because these discs are lightweight, they fit neatly in a cymbal bag for travel and can be set up by one person.

For the larger 30″ baffles, use a heavy‑duty boom stand or cymbal stand with a sturdy base. These panels work best behind crash or ride cymbals where you need broader coverage. Position the baffle so that its center lines up with the center of the cymbal. A subtle downward angle will reflect the cymbal wash back toward the drummer and away from microphones. Because the 30″ discs are heavier, ask a bandmate to assist when lifting them onto taller stands, and use padded sleeves or road cases for transport.

Regardless of size, always ensure that the mounting hardware is tight but not over‑tightened. Avoid placing the baffle directly touching the cymbal or resting on your kick drum—this will choke the sound of the cymbal and scratch your wood. With correct placement, you can control cymbal harshness in seconds, and teardown is just as quick.
